Terms of Service

Last updated October 21, 2026

1. Who we are and what these terms cover

Rationode is operated by Aliaksandr Zasim, a sole trader entered in the Trade Register (živnostenský rejstřík) kept by Městský úřad Chomutov, IČO 30072638, Bezručova 4201, 430 03 Chomutov, Czech Republic ("we", "us"). These terms govern your use of the Rationode web application, its API and MCP endpoints, the Rationode plugin for Claude Code, which we license to you free of charge for use with the Service, and any related services (together, the "Service").

By creating an account or using the Service you agree to these terms. If you use the Service on behalf of a company or another organization, you confirm that you are authorized to bind it, and "you" means that organization.

The Service is in early access. Features may change, and some parts described here may be released gradually. Section 8 explains how we make changes.

2. What the Service is

Rationode is a hosted tool for recording problems a team needs to decide, the options it considered, the arguments and evidence for each, the discussion, and the decision that was reached together with its rationale. Decisions stay readable afterwards by the team and, through the MCP endpoint, by AI agents the team authorizes.

Rationode is not a legal, financial, medical or engineering advisor. AI analyses are aids to a team’s own judgement; the decisions recorded in the Service are yours.

3. Accounts and workspaces

You need an account to use the Service. You sign in with an email and password, through Google, Microsoft or GitHub, or, if your organization has set it up, through its SAML single sign-on provider. Keep your credentials to yourself. Tell us promptly if you believe your account has been compromised.

When you first sign in and belong to no workspace, we create one for you, named after your email domain or your first name, and you become its owner; you can rename it. You may also belong to several workspaces you are invited to, and invite members to yours. Workspace owners and admins control who is a member, what plan the workspace is on, and which integrations are connected. You are responsible for whom you invite and for what members do inside your workspace.

A guest link lets a person outside the workspace sign in and take part in one problem: read it and add options, arguments, evidence and comments. Guests cannot run AI actions or record the decision. Up to 5 guests can join one problem. A link stays open for 30 days; a member can renew it for another 30 days or revoke it at any time. The member who shares a link is responsible for where it goes. If the workspace’s plan ends, its guests lose access until the plan is paid again; their links and contributions are kept.

A workspace is the organization account that you or your company use in the Service: it holds your content, members, connections and plan. The customer is the person or company that holds a workspace.

4. Your content

Everything you and your members put into the Service — problems, options, arguments, evidence, uploaded files, comments, skills and decisions — is your content. You keep all rights to it. You grant us the limited licence needed to run the Service for you: to host, store, display, process and back it up. This includes sending the relevant parts of your content to our AI provider when a member runs an analysis, when an analysis runs automatically after a change (unless an owner or admin switches automation off), when we build the search index that finds related decisions, and when a connected agent searches your decisions or checks its changes against them.

You are responsible for having the right to store and share your content. Do not upload content that infringes someone else’s rights, that is unlawful, or that you are contractually bound not to share with a third-party service.

AI analyses, summaries and drafts produced for your workspace are part of your content. They are generated by a language model and are labelled as AI output in the Service. We do not use your content to train AI models. Our AI provider’s terms forbid it from training on your content; it may keep requests for up to 30 days to detect abuse, then deletes them.

5. Acceptable use

Do not use the Service to attempt access to another workspace’s data, to probe or disrupt its infrastructure, to place load on it beyond ordinary product use, or to send unsolicited messages.

Do not store or share content that is illegal under EU law or the law of the Czech Republic, including content that infringes intellectual-property rights, discloses personal data without a legal basis, reveals trade secrets you may not share, incites violence or hatred, or sexually exploits children. Do not upload malware.

API and MCP access is for the workspaces you belong to, with your own credentials. Connect agents only you control, and do not use automated access to circumvent plan limits.

Anyone can report content they believe is illegal by writing to hello@rationode.com. Please include where the content is (the link to the problem or file), why you believe it is illegal, your name and email address, and a statement that you make the report in good faith. We confirm receipt, review the report without undue delay, and tell you what we decided. We do not use automated tools to moderate content.

hello@rationode.com is also our single point of contact for users and for authorities of EU Member States under the Digital Services Act. You can write to it in English or Czech.

We may remove content, or suspend or restrict an account or workspace, that breaches this section or the law. Where practical we will tell you first and give you a chance to fix the problem. When we act, we send the affected owner or member a statement of reasons: what we restricted, why, which rule or law it is based on, and how to contest it. You can contest a decision by replying to that message; a person, not a machine, reviews it. You may also go to court.

6. Plans, credits and payment

Recording and discussing problems is free for every workspace. On the free plan a workspace records its first 3 decisions, and its AI agents receive a pack of up to 3 decisions and 3 skills. More decisions, larger packs, exporting a problem and inviting guests require a paid plan. AI actions use credits according to how much information each one processes and generates. The credits a run used are shown after it finishes.

Team plans are billed monthly per workspace. Each includes a monthly allowance of credits that expires at the end of the billing period. The Team plan is limited to the number of members shown on the pricing page; the Business plan includes the number of people shown there and charges, in arrears, for each further person active in the workspace during a billing period. Integrations are available on every plan.

Additional AI usage is off by default. On a paid plan an owner or admin may switch it on and set a monthly spending limit. Once the period’s included credits are used up, AI actions continue at the price per credit shown on the pricing page, never beyond that limit; automatic analyses never use it. Additional usage is billed in arrears: the credits used during a billing period are charged, as a separate line, on the invoice that renews the plan at the end of that period, to the same payment method. If an invoice that includes additional usage is not paid, additional usage is switched off and cannot be switched on again until that invoice is paid; credits already used remain payable. Cancelling the plan does not cancel the charge for additional usage and, on Business, for people above the included number, which are invoiced at the end of the period.

We sell the plans. Payments are processed by Stripe (Stripe Payments Europe, Ltd., Ireland), which also emails the invoices and receipts on our behalf. Plans renew automatically each month until cancelled. We will email at least 30 days’ notice before the price of an existing plan changes; the new price applies from the next renewal, and you may cancel before then. Prices are shown in euros and are final: we are not registered as a VAT payer in the Czech Republic, so no VAT is charged. A business in another EU country that gives its VAT number accounts for VAT itself (reverse charge). If we become liable to charge VAT, the price-change notice above applies. Questions about a charge, refunds and payment disputes go to hello@rationode.com.

Moving to a higher plan takes effect immediately: the unused part of the current period is credited against the new price, and you receive the difference between the two plans’ monthly credits, in proportion to the part of the period still ahead; from the next renewal you receive the new plan’s full allowance. Moving to a lower plan takes effect at the end of the current period. Cancelling stops the next renewal; the plan stays active until the end of the period already paid. Deleting the workspace is different: it ends the plan at once (section 9).

If a period’s payment is refunded in full, or the payment is reversed through your bank, the plan ends at once and that period’s remaining credits lapse; usage not yet invoiced is not charged. If a reversed payment is later returned to us, we refund the unused part of that period.

If you are a consumer in the European Union, you may withdraw from a purchase within 14 days of it, without giving a reason, by writing to hello@rationode.com. You may use the model withdrawal form in the annex below, but you do not have to. A plan starts as soon as it is paid, so at checkout you ask for it to start immediately and acknowledge that you lose the right of withdrawal once the service has been fully provided. After purchase we email you these terms’ version, your request for an immediate start and its time. Withdrawal ends the plan on the day we receive it. If you withdraw within the 14 days, we refund the monthly price less the share for the days the plan was active before you told us. Additional AI usage you already used is charged at the price per credit. Where the Service was materially unavailable, we may also refund the affected period.

7. Integrations and third-party services

If your workspace connects Jira or Confluence, a member authorizes us through Atlassian to read and write on those systems on behalf of that member, within the permissions shown on Atlassian’s consent screen and that member’s own access. Your use of Atlassian products remains subject to Atlassian’s terms. Disconnecting removes our access and deletes the tokens we stored; content already created in those systems stays there. To withdraw the authorization itself, remove Rationode from the connected apps of that Atlassian account.

If your workspace connects GitHub, GitLab, Bitbucket or Figma, you authorize us to read from those systems: for GitHub through the Rationode GitHub App, within the repositories and read permissions granted when it was installed; for GitLab, Bitbucket and Figma through the Rationode application a member authorizes on the provider’s consent screen, read-only and within that member’s own access. We only read: the Service never writes to a repository or a design file. Code and designs are read when an action needs them and are not kept, except for what a member chooses to bring in, such as a link added as evidence or an imported decision or skill; otherwise we store only pointers such as a repository path, a commit and line numbers. Your use of those products remains subject to their providers’ terms. Disconnecting stops our use and deletes what we stored for the connection, and for GitLab we also ask GitLab to withdraw the authorization, and if GitLab does not confirm it we show where to remove it; for GitHub, uninstall the app; for Bitbucket and Figma, remove Rationode from the connected apps in that person’s account settings at the provider.

Sign-in through Google, Microsoft or GitHub is subject to those providers’ terms. We receive only the identity details needed to create and sign in to your account.

8. Availability, changes and support

We aim to keep the Service available but do not promise uninterrupted operation. Planned maintenance, provider outages and early-access defects can interrupt it. We take regular backups but you should keep your own copies of anything you cannot afford to lose; the export feature exists for that.

We may change the Service only for a valid reason: to keep it secure, to follow the law or a provider’s change, to fix defects, or to improve or simplify it. A change never costs you extra. We tell you about a change that affects you before it takes effect. If a change materially reduces what a paid plan offers, or, for a consumer, affects your access or use more than in a minor way, you may cancel within 30 days of the change and receive a pro-rata refund of the unused part of the current period.

Support is by email at hello@rationode.com. We answer as quickly as a small team can; there is no guaranteed response time on any current plan.

9. Termination

You may stop using the Service at any time. An owner can delete a workspace, and you can delete your account, in Settings; you may also ask us at hello@rationode.com, and we do it within 30 days. Deleting a workspace ends its subscription immediately; the rest of the paid period is not refunded, and additional AI usage already recorded is charged on a final invoice. This does not affect your right of withdrawal under section 6 or the refunds in section 8. Deleting a workspace removes its content from the live database; backups held by our hosting provider age out within its backup retention window.

You may move your workspace’s content to another provider at any time: export it from Settings as a ZIP file, free of charge.

We may terminate or suspend access for a material breach of these terms, for non-payment after a reminder, or if we are required to by law. We may also discontinue the Service as a whole with at least 60 days’ notice, during which you can export your content, and we will refund the unused part of any prepaid period.

Sections 4 (your content, as far as our licence is concerned), 10 and 11 survive termination.

10. Disclaimers and limitation of liability

For business customers, the Service is provided "as is" and "as available", without warranties beyond those that cannot be excluded by law. For consumers, the Service must conform to these terms and to the statutory requirements for digital services, and you keep every legal remedy if it does not. For everyone: AI analyses are generated by a language model from the content in a problem. We do not promise that they are accurate, complete or suitable for any decision, and people must check them. The decision check in the Claude Code plugin finds decisions by file location and by meaning; it may miss a relevant decision or return an unrelated one, and whether a change conflicts is judged by your own agent.

For business customers, and to the extent the law permits, we are not liable for indirect or consequential losses, loss of profit, loss of data you could have exported, or losses from decisions your organization made using the Service. Our total liability to a business customer for all claims in any twelve-month period is limited to the amount it paid us for the Service in that period. These limits do not apply to consumers. Nothing in these terms limits liability for harm caused intentionally or through gross negligence, for death or personal injury, for fraud, or any other liability that cannot be limited by law.

If you are a consumer, the mandatory consumer-protection rules of the country where you live apply and prevail over anything in this section that would reduce them.

11. Governing law and disputes

These terms are governed by the law of the Czech Republic, excluding its conflict-of-law rules. For a consumer, this choice does not remove the protection of the mandatory rules of the country where the consumer lives. The courts of the Czech Republic have jurisdiction over disputes with business customers. A consumer may sue us in the courts of the Czech Republic or of the EU country where they live, and we may sue a consumer only in the country where they live. A consumer may also turn to the Czech Trade Inspection Authority (Česká obchodní inspekce, www.coi.cz), the body for out-of-court resolution of consumer disputes.

If any part of these terms is found unenforceable, the rest remains in force. Our failure to enforce a right is not a waiver of it.

12. Changes to these terms

We may update these terms when the Service, the law or our providers change. For a change that affects your rights or obligations in more than a trivial way, we notify workspace owners by email or in the application at least 14 days before it takes effect, and say what changes and why. If you do not accept it, you may cancel before it takes effect; for a paid plan, we refund the unused part of the current period. If you keep using the Service after that date, the updated terms apply.

13. Contact

Questions about these terms go to hello@rationode.com.

Annex: Data Processing Terms

A1. Scope. This annex is the data processing agreement under Article 28 of the GDPR between the customer that holds the workspace (the controller) and us (the processor) for personal data contained in the workspace’s content. It applies for as long as we process that data and forms part of these terms. Where it conflicts with the rest of these terms, this annex prevails.

A2. Subject matter, nature and purpose. We host, store, display, back up, search and analyse the workspace’s content, run AI analyses on it and send the emails the product needs, only to provide the Service described in these terms.

A3. Data and people concerned. Types of data: names, email addresses and other identifiers of members and guests; anything about any person that members or guests write into problems, options, arguments, evidence, comments, uploaded files, skills and decisions; and data read from connected tools. People concerned: your members and guests, and any person mentioned in your content. You must not store special categories of personal data (Article 9 GDPR) unless you have a legal basis and the content needs it.

A4. Instructions. We process the data only on your documented instructions. These terms, your settings and the actions your members take in the Service are those instructions, including transfers to the sub-processors listed in the Privacy Notice. We tell you at once if we believe an instruction breaks data-protection law. If EU or Member State law requires other processing, we tell you first, unless that law forbids it.

A5. Confidentiality. Only the operator of the Service, who is bound by confidentiality, may access your content, and only to resolve an issue you reported, to investigate abuse or a security incident, or when the law requires it.

A6. Security. We apply the measures described in the Privacy Notice, section "Security", and keep them appropriate to the risk (Article 32 GDPR). We may improve them; we will not lower the overall level of protection.

A7. Sub-processors. You authorize the sub-processors listed in the Privacy Notice. We bind each of them by written contract to data-protection obligations no less protective than this annex, and we remain liable to you for their performance. We notify the workspace’s owners by email at least 30 days before adding or replacing a sub-processor. You may object in writing within that period on reasonable data-protection grounds. If we cannot resolve the objection, you may terminate the affected plan before the change takes effect and receive a pro-rata refund of the unused part of the current period.

A8. Transfers outside the EEA. We transfer the data outside the European Economic Area only to the sub-processors listed in the Privacy Notice and only under the safeguard stated there for each: an adequacy decision, including the EU-US Data Privacy Framework, or the EU Standard Contractual Clauses.

A9. Assistance. Taking into account the nature of the processing, we help you answer requests from people exercising their rights, and help you with security, breach notification, data-protection impact assessments and prior consultation (Articles 32 to 36 GDPR). Requests we receive directly about your content are forwarded to the workspace’s owners without undue delay.

A10. Personal data breaches. We notify the workspace’s owners without undue delay, and where possible within 48 hours, after becoming aware of a breach affecting your content. We give the information you need to notify the authority and the people concerned, as far as we have it.

A11. End of processing. When your workspace is deleted, or the Service ends, we delete your content within 30 days, unless the law requires us to keep it. Before deletion you may export it from Settings or ask us for a copy. Backups age out within our hosting provider’s backup retention window.

A12. Audits. We make available the information needed to show compliance with Article 28 GDPR and answer reasonable written questions. If that is not enough, you may audit us, or have an independent auditor bound by confidentiality do so, once a year with 30 days’ notice, at your cost. For our sub-processors, we rely on their own certifications and audit reports.

A13. The customer’s responsibilities. The customer is responsible for having a legal basis for the personal data in the workspace’s content and for informing the people concerned, including the members it invites and the guests a problem is shared with.
